Photo essay: The DSO strike in photos
19 January 2011
The World Socialist Web Site presents a photo slide show of the DSO musicians struggle against the draconian cuts demanded by Detroit Symphony Orchestra management. Hart Hollman, a violist and photographer provided these photos.
The DSO players have been on strike since October 4, 2010. DSO management has been intransigent in its efforts to force the musicians to accept its plan to cut pay by 33% and impose drastic changes in work rules. The future of the DSO as a world class orchestra is at stake. These photos start from Labor Day and show the outreach performances by the players through 2010.
